From bendable batteries to the stadium of the future, Andru Edwards of Gear Live outlines the top future smart technologies Panasonic showcased at CES 2017.
This year during CES 2017 I had the opportunity to work with Panasonic in their booth as part of another influencer campaign, similar to last year. In 2016, I focused mostly on the Technics audio hardware–but this year it was all about the Future Tech Lab. Get a preview of the best tech that we found in the Panasonic booth in the video embedded above, and then hit the jump to check out all the products that I was able to learn about during this CES, like the bendable battery, the sports arena of the future, on the fly multilingual language translation, the incredible Lumix GH5, and more!
Panasonic VR Headset
In this video, I give you a look at the Panasonic VR Headset! With a 220-degree field-of-view (more than double the average 100-degree field-of-view in competing headsets like the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift,) this display is designed for use training firefighters, surgeons, pilots and others who require an immersive training experience. Of course, it’s also great for entertainment and gaming with its wide field-of-view. Additionally, this VR Headset can sync seamlessly with a 360-degree camera for 4K Ultra HD input and comes with bone-conduction headphone technology.
Panasonic Smart Table Of The Future
In this one I demonstrate how the Panasonic Smart Table will be able to sync with your smartphone to display messages on the table itself, allows you to control various connected products throughout your smart home, display video for those face-to-face calls, and even heat or cool the drinks on the table using Panasonic induction technology. Aside from the Lumix GH5, this is the product that I wished I could take home with me from the show floor.
Panasonic LUMIX GH5
I’m not in this one, but my pal Matthew Moniz was tasked with covering the brand new Panasonic Lumix GH5. What you’re looking at here is my next camera. We’re talking about 4K HDR video, dual SIM card support with continuous recording, ridiculously fast focus, oh and even 4K at 60fps. Find out all about the new Lumix GH5 features, and get a comparison of the GH5 vs GH4 in the video above!
The Flexible, Bendable Battery
This versatile flexible lithium-ion bendable battery can be adapted for numerous uses and will easily retain its ability to charge time and time again. Some cool potential uses for this tech include being embedded right into clothing, smart cards, and wearable devices. In this video I establish the many benefits and potential use cases of Panasonic’s bendable batteries.
Smart Stadium Of The Future
Check out Panasonic’s vision for the Smart Stadium, one of the coolest things I experienced at CES 2017. The Smart Stadium concept was shown in the Panasonic booth, and as you’ll see in this video, it’s impressive. From the BalloonCam that hovers above the crowd with a 4K 360-degree camera with projection, to the LinkRay LED technology in the signage that allows you to instantly get information directly on your phone, to Flag Mapping thanks to the magic of motion tracking projectors that enables super-cool signage unlike anything you’ve ever seen. This is the kind of arena I can’t wait to visit.
Panasonic Multilingual Translation System
The Panasonic Multilingual Translation System is able to translate six different languages on the fly. It’s available now in Japan, and in this episode you can see how it works in real-time. I’d love to see this in major airports, hotels, restaurants, and other tourist destinations. It would make communication insanely simple for all parties. As you can see, you just speak natural language, and the display shows the translated version of what you said.
The Best Tech Luxury Box
Watch me demonstrate Panasonic’s Window AR Projection technology, which can project images right onto the glass inside stadium suites for fans. As they’re watching the game, fans will be able to see customized stats, highlights, replays and more. It’s projected onto the glass itself, but you can still see through the glass, meaning that your view of the action on the field is never obstructed. This is a cool way to add a new level of fun and excitement into the luxury box experience.
What do you think? Impressive, right? Panasonic continues to impress with that innovative approach to heighten entertainment experiences across multiple types of venues. Here’s hoping they bring me back next year, because I can’t wait to see what they’ve got coming next.
